Classroom Cave Art!

Supplies:

Brown paper bags (1 per student)

Charcoal or chalk

Tape

Directions:

1) First, cut the paper bag so it is a single piece of paper

2) Next, crinkle up the bag to give the bag the texture of a cave wall

3) Next, either tape the bag under the students’ desk or allow the students to crawl under their desks to work on their cave art (this is to simulate creating art or drawing in a cave or a dark, confined place).

Have the students draw pictures of animals that they think they would see outside of their cave, or animals they think they would encounter while on a “hunt.” Students can also incorporate hand-prints and tools they may use.

5)Finally, hang up all the drawings on bulletin board or wall, be sure to align them to reflect a full cave wall.
